Buderim's older homes have large hipped tile roofs, but the block might have three 30 m trees on it. We run a shade model on every job, pick the plane with the clearest sky and use optimisers on any string that catches shade. The eastern escarpment homes get excellent morning sun and lose a little in late afternoon. Sippy Downs estates are flatter and simpler, with 10 kW fitting easily.

What applies to a Buderim install

Council and network

Buderim's older village core has a character precinct in the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme, but panels on an existing house are accepted development throughout. Much of the plateau edge sits within the landslide hazard and bushfire overlays, which do not restrict roof panels but do affect where we put ground-level equipment. Energex serves the suburb with the usual 5 kW single-phase export cap; three-phase is common on the larger homes and allows 15 kW. Sippy Downs townhouses need body corporate consent.

STC rebate in Buderim

Buderim is in STC Zone 3 (rating 1.382). With a 5-year deeming period, a 6.6 kW system earns about 45 certificates, roughly $1,755 at $39 each, and a 10 kW system about 69, roughly $2,691. We claim it for you and take it off the quote.

My Buderim block has huge trees. Is solar still worthwhile?

Usually, yes. We model the shade hour by hour, use the clearest plane and put any shaded panels on optimisers so they do not drag down the rest. Most treed Buderim roofs still reach 80 to 90 percent of an open roof.

Does the escarpment edge affect production?

Homes on the eastern edge get full morning sun and a slightly earlier sunset behind the plateau. The effect is a few percent over the year. We favour north and east planes on those blocks.

Are Buderim's 1960s tile roofs suitable for panels?

Yes. Concrete tiles from that era carry panels easily. They are brittle, so we walk them carefully, replace any that crack and check the sarking. If the roof is near the end of its life we will tell you before quoting.
