What we find on Caloundra roofs
The Aura estates have small, simple Colorbond roofs where 6.6 kW is the norm and 10 kW needs careful use of every plane; that is why the postcode average is a modest 8.9 kW. Old Caloundra and Golden Beach have older tin roofs on bigger blocks, quick to install and often able to take 10 kW. Pelican Waters canal homes are large tile roofs with pools and frequently three-phase. Beachside streets get marine-grade mounting.

What applies to a Caloundra install
Council and network
Old Caloundra has a small character area around the Bulcock Street precinct, but rooftop panels on existing homes remain accepted development throughout the Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme. The Aura estates carry Stockland design guidelines that permit solar but ask for tidy, plane-aligned layouts, which is how we install anyway. Energex serves the whole postcode; Aura feeders are solar-heavy, so single-phase export is held to 5 kW and dynamic connections are worth applying for. Golden Beach and Pelican Waters sit in storm tide overlays, affecting inverter height only.
STC rebate in Caloundra
Caloundra is in STC Zone 3 (rating 1.382). With a 5-year deeming period, a 6.6 kW system earns about 45 certificates, roughly $1,755 at $39 each, and a 10 kW system about 69, roughly $2,691. We claim it for you and take it off the quote.
Battery discount
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program cuts roughly 30 percent off the installed cost of a home battery, stepping down each year to 2030. Postcode 4551 added 1,321 batteries in the year to July 2026. We size the battery to your evening use, not the biggest unit on the truck.
Asked by Caloundra homeowners
Do the Aura design guidelines allow solar panels?
Yes. Stockland's guidelines permit rooftop solar and simply ask that panels align with the roof plane and avoid a patchwork layout. We design every Aura system that way and provide a rendered layout for the approval if you need one.
Why are new systems in Caloundra smaller than elsewhere?
Because so many are on compact Aura roofs. The postcode average of 8.9 kW reflects that. On an older Caloundra block or a Pelican Waters canal home we routinely install 10 kW or more.
I am in Golden Beach near the Passage. Any special considerations?
Two: salt spray, which means marine-grade mounting hardware, and the storm tide overlay, which sets the minimum height for the inverter and any battery. Both are standard for us and included in the quote.
