What makes Pimpama different

Pimpama is the estate suburb directly south of Ormeau, and almost every home here was built after 2010. Gainsborough Greens, Pimpama Village and the newer estates around Pimpama City are single-storey Colorbond-roofed homes on small blocks, and construction has not stopped. It shares postcode 4209 with Coomera. It is 10 km from our depot, so we can usually have a crew on site within the week.

Why it works here
  • 14,674 rooftop systems in postcode 4209, with 868 added in the year to July 2026
  • 1,398 batteries installed across 4209 in the 12 months to July 2026, among the highest in Queensland
  • New 4209 systems averaged 10.8 kW last year
  • Pimpama is 10 km from our Ormeau depot, about 20 minutes door to door
  • Colorbond roofs and modern switchboards make a 6.6 kW install a half-day job

What we find on Pimpama roofs

Pimpama roofs are compact: two or three small Colorbond planes with the aircon, hot water and satellite dish already competing for the north face. We frequently use the east and west planes to reach 6.6 kW, and 10 kW needs every usable plane. The upside is speed: modern switchboards, smart meters already fitted and Colorbond clamps make it a half-day install.

Rules and rebates

What applies to a Pimpama install

Council and network

Pimpama has no heritage constraints, and panels on an existing home are accepted development under the City of Gold Coast City Plan. The real constraint is the Energex network: the estate feeders carry more rooftop solar than almost anywhere in Queensland, so single-phase export is capped at 5 kW and inverters are commissioned with Energex's Volt-Watt settings to avoid tripping on high voltage. A dynamic connection can lift export when the network has room. Some estate covenants prefer panels off the street-facing plane.

STC rebate in Pimpama

Pimpama is in STC Zone 3 (rating 1.382). With a 5-year deeming period, a 6.6 kW system earns about 45 certificates, roughly $1,755 at $39 each, and a 10 kW system about 69, roughly $2,691. We claim it for you and take it off the quote.

Battery discount

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program cuts roughly 30 percent off the installed cost of a home battery, stepping down each year to 2030. Postcode 4209 added 1,398 batteries in the year to July 2026. We size the battery to your evening use, not the biggest unit on the truck.

Questions from Pimpama

Asked by Pimpama homeowners

Why does my neighbour's inverter keep switching off in the afternoon?

High grid voltage. Pimpama feeders carry so much solar that the voltage rises on sunny afternoons, and an inverter with the wrong settings trips. We commission every inverter to Energex's Volt-Watt and Volt-VAr settings so it ramps down gracefully instead of dropping out.

Can I get more than 5 kW of export in Pimpama?

On single-phase, only through a dynamic connection, which lets Energex raise your export limit to 10 kW when the local network has capacity. We can lodge the application with your connection paperwork.

Is a battery worth it in a Pimpama estate home?

For a household that is out all day, usually yes. Without one, most of your generation exports at 6 cents while evening power costs 32 cents. The federal battery discount takes roughly 30 percent off the installed price.
